STELLA Automotive alternative
Looking for a STELLA Automotive alternative?
Reception agent. Service agent. Sales agent. Lead agent. Recall agent. Outbound agent. There are many jobs AI can perform inside a dealership.
Lineshift approaches the problem from another direction: start with the customer journey, then let the right combination of AI, people, channels and systems complete it.
Instead of thinking about every interaction as belonging to a separate bot, Lineshift gives automotive businesses a connected conversational layer that can adapt to what the customer actually needs.
Customers don’t know which AI agent they need
A customer may call about an appointment, mention a recall and then ask about replacing another car. To the dealership, that touches service, recalls and sales. To the customer, it is one conversation. Lineshift understands the changing intent, retrieves relevant information, completes permitted actions and involves the right employees when required. You define the business rules; the customer does not need to understand them.
Configure the journey, not just the agent
STELLA publicly organizes its current offering around a suite of specialized dealership AI agents covering areas such as reception, sales, service, outbound campaigns, equity, lead follow-up, recalls and lost-customer re-engagement.
Lineshift organizes automation around workflows. The result is an AI experience shaped around your actual operation rather than around the boundary between products.
- Knowledge and actionsDefine what the AI knows, what it can do and which systems it can access.
- Human involvementSet when a person should become involved, who that person should be and what happens if they are unavailable.
- Operational follow-throughControl what information is written back and what should happen next.
Build once. Use it across the customer journey.
The same underlying business knowledge and integrations can power Lineshift across every major customer channel.
You do not need to decide that a customer is now talking to the service bot and then the SMS bot. The channel can change while the customer context remains.
- PhoneAnswer inbound calls, make outbound calls, book appointments, qualify leads and route customers.
- Web chatTurn browsing into a real conversation and move qualified customers toward the appropriate next action.
- SMSHandle asynchronous conversations, confirmations, reminders and follow-up.
- WhatsAppContinue conversations with richer messaging, documents, links and images.
- EmailTrigger or continue workflows when written communication makes more sense.
- VideoGive online visitors an interactive conversational sales experience with a video AI agent.
A phone call can become something else
Consider a caller asking about an appointment. One interaction can cross a scheduling system, voice, SMS, human escalation and task management.
That is what Lineshift means by cross-channel automation.
- Lineshift checks the appropriate system and books the slot.
- The customer asks for directions, so the agent sends them by SMS.
- The customer mentions an unusual technical concern, and the AI determines that an advisor should participate.
- The AI briefs the advisor and attempts a warm transfer.
- If nobody answers, Lineshift resumes the call, explains the situation and creates the appropriate follow-up instead of dropping the customer into voicemail.
Transfers deserve more than a routing rule
STELLA publicly documents call transfers and escalation capabilities, including employee context before handoff. Lineshift also treats human intervention as a core part of automotive AI.
The difference Lineshift emphasizes is the workflow surrounding that intervention. The objective is not to minimize human involvement at all costs, but to involve people at the moments where they add the most value.
- Warm transferBrief the receiving employee before joining the customer.
- Sequential transferTry appropriate recipients in order.
- Parallel transferContact several eligible people simultaneously.
- ClawbackIf the transfer cannot be completed, give control back to the AI and continue the configured fallback.
AI when it can. People when it matters.
Automotive customer service contains a mixture of predictable and highly human interactions. Checking an appointment slot or providing opening hours is predictable. Negotiating a trade-in value or de-escalating an angry customer may not be.
Lineshift lets you set the boundary deliberately. Some workflows are fully automated, some are AI-assisted with information gathered before an employee takes over, and some escalate immediately.
The choice can depend on intent, customer context, business rules, location, department or availability. Human intervention is not a failure of the AI. Sometimes it is the correct automated decision.
The job isn’t finished when the customer hangs up
Counting how many calls the AI handled tells only part of the story. After an interaction, someone may still need to update a CRM, review the transcript, create a callback, notify an advisor, assign a salesperson, send a document or determine whether another team already owns the request.
Lineshift is designed to automate that operational layer too. Conversation outcomes can become structured data, system updates and tasks automatically.
With Task IQ, follow-up can be qualified, deduplicated, prioritized and routed before it reaches your employees. The goal is not merely fewer phone calls. It is less unnecessary work.
Your dealership systems remain the source of truth
A useful automotive AI agent needs real information. Lineshift connects to DMS, CRM, workshop planning and other business software so the agent can retrieve data and execute actions during the conversation.
An appointment can be read from and written into the relevant diary. A sales lead can update the CRM. Customer and vehicle information can inform the conversation, and the resulting interaction data can return to the systems your staff already use.
For multi-site organizations, each location can have its own opening hours, teams, business logic and integrations while remaining centrally managed.
STELLA Automotive or Lineshift?
STELLA is an established automotive-specific platform. Its public offering includes inbound reception, service scheduling, sales, outbound voice and SMS, recall campaigns, lead follow-up, equity outreach, analytics and integrations with major dealership systems.
There is significant functional overlap with Lineshift. That is why we recommend avoiding a checkbox comparison and instead comparing how each platform models the operation itself.
Examine how a conversation moves between departments and channels, what happens when the AI needs a person, whether it can continue if that employee cannot answer, whether context survives every transition and what happens to follow-up after the interaction.
Also ask whether unusual workflows can be encoded without forcing them into a predefined use case, and whether all of this works with the systems you already operate. The answers reveal much more than whether both platforms can book an appointment.
Don’t show us your easiest call
Use a real-world test, not a question about opening hours. Try a customer who has a Thursday booking, received a recall notice, needs a courtesy car and may not be able to make the appointment.
- Does the AI understand every part of the request?
- Does it access the right systems?
- Does it know what it can resolve and when to bring someone in?
- Does the employee receive the context?
- What happens if nobody answers?
- What work is left for your team afterwards?
