Voice AI for workshop scheduling
“Can you fit my car in?” is rarely just a calendar question. The answer depends on the vehicle, the requested work, the location, whether the driver will wait, and the capacity your workshop really has. Lineshift collects those details, checks your configured rules and connected diary, and confirms a booking only after the system accepts it.

Coverage
Collect the customer, vehicle, requested work, preferred location, and timing constraints. Use a customer or vehicle record where the integration supports lookup.
Distinguish routine maintenance, diagnostic work, drop-offs, waiting visits, and other appointment types. Ask about a courtesy vehicle or another requirement when it changes the available choices.
Consult the connected workshop diary and present options that meet the rules for that visit and location.
Write the booking to the system, wait for its acknowledgment, and give the customer the confirmed date, location, and arrival instructions. Send a confirmation through a configured channel.
If no suitable slot exists, a system is unavailable, or the request needs an advisor's judgement, capture the details and assign the next action. Tell the customer that confirmation is pending.

Customer“I need the 40,000-mile service next week, and I have to wait for the car.”
Lineshift identifies the vehicle, selects the eligible maintenance type, checks waiting-appointment availability, and offers an appropriate slot. If the workshop system accepts it, the agent confirms the visit. If the only open time is a drop-off slot, it does not silently book that instead.
A diagnostic visit, a service appointment, and a customer dropping off a car are different pieces of work. Your team defines those distinctions; the agent follows them.
The outcome belongs in the system staff already use. A confirmed booking includes the customer, vehicle, work requested, slot, location, relevant notes, and the system's booking reference. A request awaiting approval is labeled as pending and assigned to an advisor. A call that needs immediate expertise is transferred with its context.
That gives the service desk an accurate starting point and gives managers a way to measure what happened beyond “the phone was answered.”
