At the États-Majors du Véhicule d’Occasion (EMVO) 2025 event held in Paris Longchamp, artificial intelligence emerged as a driver of digital transformation in the used-vehicle sector. Automotive professionals are increasingly looking to modernize tools to improve efficiency, reactivity, and profitability. Several innovative startups made a mark at the event with solutions that can be implemented right away.
Two French startups, Steer AI and Carviz, stood out with automated vehicle inspection solutions. Using computer vision and image/video analysis, they detect visible defects automatically: scratches, dents, tire wear, etc.
With their AI algorithms, they deliver substantial time savings in inspection workflows, while reducing human error risk. Inspectors can focus on the complex cases; most checks become fast, standardized, and reliable.
On the commercial/digital side, Nextlane presented several AI-powered innovations:
Another key use case of AI at EMVO is Lineshift AI, which addresses a strategic but often overlooked need: handling incoming phone calls. This intelligent voice agent automatically takes incoming calls for dealerships, 24/7. The AI understands what the customer wants, responds or routes the call to the right person, or schedules callbacks.
Result: no more missed calls, improved customer experience, and higher lead recovery. In a sector where every call can mean a sale, the impact is immediate.
EMVO 2025 demonstrated that AI is no longer a distant concept, but an operational reality. Inspection, valuation, marketing, customer relations, administrative tasks: AI is present in all stages of the used-vehicle lifecycle, simplifying, making more reliable, and accelerating them.
These innovations, driven by French startups, are raising the standards of the industry and preparing dealerships for a more digital, effective future centered on customer experience.
Looking forward to EMVO 2026!
